Jean P. Winkler, 85, Vero Beach

Jean P. Winkler, 85, died March 25, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

She was born in Scotch Plains, N.J., and lived in Landgrove, Vt., and Vero Beach for 25 years, coming from Coral Gables.

She graduated with a bachelor’s degree from Franklin College, Franklin, Ind.

She was a member of the Community Church of Vero Beach as well as the Moorings Club of Vero Beach.

She lived in England, France and Venezuela as well as New York, New Jersey and Coral Gables before retiring to Vero Beach.

She continued traveling around the world upon retiring and accumulated more than 500 days at sea.

Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Raymond Winkler, of Vero Beach; daughter, Susan M. Crosby, of Brunswick, Ga.; son, Scott T. Winkler, of Los Altos Hills, Calif.; and one grandson.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Persis Adams; and brother, Edward Peterson.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Church, 1901 23rd St., Vero Beach, FL 32960 or the Mountain Valley Medical Clinic, 38 Vermont Route 11, Londonderry, VT 05148.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. March 30 in the chapel of the Community Church.

Burial will be in Vermont at a later date.
