George Arthur Sample, 76, died March 15, 2013, at Holmes Regional Medical Center, Melbourne.
He was born in Bridgewater, S.D., and moved to Vero Beach 36 years ago from Bangor, Maine.
He was an Air Force veteran. He worked at Piper Aircaft in Vero Beach as a machinist for 15 years.
He also worked at Barry’s Ornamental Iron in Vero Beach as a welder, and retired from Booth Manufacturing, Fort Pierce, after 15 years as a fabricator and welder.
He attended Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach.
He was the founder of the Unified Bass Anglers Club of Vero Beach.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Jean Sample; sons, Robert Sample, of Hoover, Ala., and Jay Sample and Ronald Sample, both of Vero Beach; brother, Donald Sample of Pickrell, Neb.; sisters, Garnet Klueber, of Canistota, S.D., Nyla Opp, of Timber Lake, S.D., and Sherri Houtcooper, of Ketichkan, Ark.; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Wallace Sample, Jack Sample and Stanley Sample.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. March 19 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach.
