Frances Leigh Shoemaker, 80, died March 16, 2013.
She was born in Chesapeake, Va., and was a resident of Virginia Beach, Va., until her retirement to Florida in 1996.
Her career as a property manager in Virginia and Vero Beach spanned 30 years.
She was an active member of King’s Baptist Church and was a member of the Jabez Sunday School class and numerous Bible studies.
She gave many hours to the visitation ministry, visiting nursing and retirement homes in the community, as well being active in the cancer support group at King’s Baptist.
Survivors include her sons, Rick Shoemaker, of Vero Beach, and Craig Shoemaker, of Fort Pierce; daughter, Cindy Turner, of Denver, Colo.; stepchildren, George Shoemaker, of Port St. Lucie; brother, George Ridgwell, of Virginia Beach; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Clayton Shoemaker, of Virginia Beach; sister, Margaret Gibson, of Virginia; and brother, William D. Ridgwell, also of Virginia.
Memorial contributions may be sent to King’s Baptist Church, Moffitt Cancer Center or VNA Hospice of Indian River County.
A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. March 23 at King’s Baptist Church.
