Board expands at Indian River County Healthy Start Coalition

VERO BEACH — Joseph Robinson, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Indian River Healthy Start Coalition (IRCHSC,) announces the continued expansion to the board for the non-profit organization.

“The organization is directing our efforts into positive and exciting new areas in order to continue our mission in helping families, pregnant mothers, and children.

We have recruited new highly qualified individuals as directors to the existing board offering their knowledge and expertise to the organization. The final missing piece was to find the right individual to fill the slot of Executive Director.

In hiring Kathleen Ann Cain as the new Executive Director, we now have the well rounded team on board that we needed. We are all very excited about our choices and our unified passion for the organization as we move forward in meeting our goals,” explained Robinson.

Robinson, President Broker for the Laurel Agency Real Estate, began his tenure on the board in 2010, later becoming co-chair for Dancing with Vero’s Stars in 2010 and Chairman of the board in 2012.

Treasurer Sean P. Seevers, CPA with Rehmann Robson who has been on the board since January 2012, is a vital component of the Coalition’s accounting and finance function.

Secretary Brenda Lloyd CP, FRP, with Robin Lloyd & Associates, P.A., was first introduced to the IRCHSC when her daughter had a baby and then later accepted an invitation to dance in Dancing with Vero’s Stars, the organization’s signature fundraising event in 2010.

Ms. Lloyd also played a vital role as the co-chair of the event in 2012 and was a member of the event’s planning committee for the 2013 event.

Georgia Irish is the Branch Manager of Marine Bank’s Beachland Blvd.’s location. Ms. Irish was instrumental in co-chairing and implementing the first two years (2008 and 2009) of Dancing with Vero’s Stars before moving to her board position.

Cheryl Martinez, RN, MSA, BSN, is a mother of three offering over 15 years of nursing experience and a strong desire as a board member to assist women in having positive child-bearing experience through education and support.

The two most recent additions are Glenn Tremml, M.D. and Kim McCorrison. Tremml is an emergency physician and one of last year’s star dancers and top fundraiser for Dancing with Vero’s Stars. As a physician and board member, his goal is helping to make sure that every baby in Indian River County gets a healthy start.

McCorrison, a mother of two daughters, a long-time resident of Vero Beach and passionate about early childhood issues, has worked for the School District of Indian River County for 32 years, currently as the School Readiness Coordinator, coordinating the Pre-K programs for the district.

The IRC Healthy Start Coalition develops, evaluates, and funds a full spectrum of services to support pregnant women’s health, baby’s health, and families parenting young children.

The office is located at 333 17th St., Ste. R, in Vero Beach, just west of the Alma Lee Loy Bridge.
