Special Veterans ceremony at Navy UDT-SEAL Museum March 22

FORT PIERCE — The National Navy UDT-SEAL Museum, located at 3300 N. Hwy. A1A in Fort Pierce, will be the location of a special ceremony where at least a dozen combat wounded Veterans from all branches of service will receive a hand carved cane with the warrior’s name, rank, and award information imprinted on the cane.

The event is March 22 at 2 p.m.

“One of the canes will be going to Rudy Warshawsky,” explained Lloyd Lasenby, Indian River Woodcarvers member.

Rudy’s story was told in the miniseries Band of Brothers. He is reportedly the last living Veteran of that company.

For more information or to nominate a Veteran, please call Mr. Lasenby at (772) 466-5295.

The Indian River Woodcarvers Association meets every Thursday at the Moose lodge in Vero Beach from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Classes are offered free of charge.
