SunUp ARC Advocacy Committee goes to Tallahassee

VERO BEACH — In 2010, SunUp ARC formed the Advocacy Committee. Patricia Moody, Scott Connelly, Natalie Urquhart, and Michelle Penly volunteered to take on this task.

Since the committee was formed, they have been having meetings and attending events to bring about awareness to the community regarding the needs of people with disabilities.

The Advocacy Committee left bright and early on Wednesday, March 6, on their quest to Tallahassee to meet with other individuals from across Florida to engage in a statewide campaign to End the R word in Florida.

Below were the responses when asked what they are looking forward to the most on their trip.

“I have a big question mark over my head. I want to learn more about the government and put forth a good image,” said Scott Connelly.

“Seeing new places, meeting new people, and getting to see the Capital,” replied Natalie Urquhart.

“Meeting Governor Scott and seeing the Capital for the first time,” added Michelle Penly.

“Meeting Governor Scott and lots of new people,” explained Patricia Moody.

Special thanks to Representative Deb Mayfield for setting up special tours of the Capital and a meeting with Governor Scott.
