Philip C. Collins, 87, Vero Beach

Philip C. Collins, 87, died March 4, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

He was born in Highland, N.Y.

He served in the Navy and received several medals, including the World War II Victory, American Theatre Campaign Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal and European-African Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal.

He was a plumber/steamfitter for more than 40 years with Local 201.

He was a third-generation volunteer firefighter in Highland, N.Y., and a member of the BPOE Elks in New York and Florida, and a member of the American Legion for more than 50 years.

He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church for more than 12 years.

Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Arleen “A.C.” Collins of Vero Beach; daughter, Pamela Kotofsky of Tennessee; and sisters, Marie Dumas and Jean Collins, both of New York.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Cynthia “Cindy” Collins.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1850 Sixth Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. March 19 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Vero Beach.

Military honors will be provided by the VFW/American Legion Post 3918.

Arrangements are by Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home in Vero Beach.
