Mary Katherine Gantner, 91, Vero Beach

Mary Katherine Gantner, 91, died March 4, 2013, at Grace Rehabilitation Center, Vero Beach.

She was born in Dayton, Ohio, and lived in Vero Beach since 1978, coming from Worthington, Ohio.

She graduated, with honors, from the College of Mount St. Joseph, Cincinnati, and did graduate studies in special education at Northeastern State College, Chicago, Ill.

She taught school in Dayton, Ohio, and Evanston, Ill., and was director of the Glenkirk School for Retarded Children in Glenview, Ill.

She attended St. Helen Catholic Church, Vero Beach, where she was a member of the St. Helen’s Women’s Club and served as a Eucharistic minister.

She was a member of the Kappa Gamma Pi National Honorary Society, American Association on Mental Deficiency and The Duplicate Bridge Club.

She was preceded in death by her sons, Tommy Gantner, Eddie Gantner and Paul Gantner; and husband, Edward G. Gantner.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Helen Catholic Church, 2000 20th St., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

A Mass of Christian burial will be at 2 p.m. March 11 at St. Helen, Catholic Church, Vero Beach.

Interment will be in All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Ill.

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory, Vero Beach.
