Jazz Orchestra swings TV and movie music

VERO BEACH — Get ready for a jazzy “blast from the past” when the Space Coast Jazz Orchestra presents “From the Flat Screen to the Silver Screen” on Sunday, March 10, at 2:30 p.m. at the Emerson Center located at 1590 27th Ave. in Vero Beach.

An affiliate of the Space Coast Symphony, the popular jazz orchestra will perform some of the world’s best loved television and movie scores turned jazz standards.

The group will swing classic TV themes from Bewitched, Perry Mason, Bandstand Boogie, and Peter Gunn, as well as selections from such movies as “The Pink Panther” and “West Side Story.”

$20 advance tickets are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at several convenient ticket outlets including Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) and Madison Avenue Consignments.

Tickets at the door are $25. Students 18 years of age and under are admitted free.

Discounted tickets are provided through the SCSO Symphony for Everyone program. See details on the website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or call toll free (855) 252-7276 for more information.

Artistic Director Aaron T. Collins knows the retro program will resonate with concert goers.

“Jazz was the sound for hip TV theme songs and movie scores of the 50’s and 60’s. It was cool then, and it’s still cool today,” said Collins.
