Vincent N. Umland, 84, died Feb. 25, 2013, at Indian River Estates Medical Center in Vero Beach.
He was born in Queens Village, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 32 years, coming from Stamford, Conn.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Before retirement in 1981, he was the administrator of Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York for 25 years.
He was a member of the Moorings Club, Vero Beach Country Club and the Society of Cancer Research Administrators.
He was a graduate of Harvard Advanced Business School.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Penny Umland, of Vero Beach; son, Mark Umland, of Conyers, Ga.; daughter, Sherron Stawiarz, of Monson, Mass.; stepdaughters, Bonnie Praver, of Woodbury, N.Y., and Laurie Jones, of Ocala; brother, Wayne Umland, of Willow Street, Pa.; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer Umland; and stepson, Roy Praver.

A private graveside service will be at Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
Military honors will be conducted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach.
