Russian National Orchestra at Community Church

VERO BEACH — On Friday, March 1, the Indian River Symphonic Association will present a concert by the Russian National Orchestra. The orchestra will be conducted by Vasily Petrenko and will feature piano soloist Barry Douglas.

The current U.S. tour of the Russian National Orchestra includes 14 concerts in 12 cities. Before coming to Vero Beach, the orchestra will perform for two nights at the Kravis Center in West Palm Beach.

Maestro Petrenko is the Principal Conductor of the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chief Conductor of the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Mr. Douglas, gold medal winner of the 1986 Tchaikovsky International Piano Competition in Moscow, has performed with every major symphony orchestra.

He has played under the direction of some of the world’s most famous conductors including Vladimir Ashkenazy, Lorin Maazel, Kurt Masur, and Leonard Slatkin, among many others.

The evening’s program will include:

Rimsky-Korsakov – Capriccio Espagnol, Op. 34

Tchaikovsky – Piano Concerto No. 1 in B Flat Minor, Op. 23

Rachmaninov – Symphonic Dances, Op. 45

The concert will be presented at the Community Church of Vero Beach and will begin at 7:30 p.m.
