Manuel J. LaFont, 61, died Feb. 17, 2013, in Fort Pierce.
He was born in New York City, and lived Vero Beach for 12 years, coming from West Palm Beach.
He was a volunteer with Forest Hill Elementary PTO and Morningside Library, where he read to the children, and was a translator for the Meadowbrook Trailer Park.
He was a ramp agent with Continental Airlines and worked 20 years as produce manager with Waldbaums.
He was a member of St. Lucie Catholic Church.
Survivors include his sons, Andrew LaFont, of Vero Beach, and Christopher LaFont, of Florida; daughters, Michele Ortiz, Cassandra LaFont-Cooper, and Nicole LaFont, all of Florida, and Danielle Rodriguez, of New York; sisters, Hilda Cruz, Carmen Torres and Yvette Lopez, all of Florida; and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Timmy Schneckenburger.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Feb. 25 at St. Lucie Catholic Church.
