Robert George Mooney Jr., 70, Vero Beach

Robert George Mooney Jr., 70, died Feb. 12, 2013, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Science in Little Rock, Ark.

He was born in Charleston, S.C., and lived in Vero Beach for 45 years, coming from Palm Beach County.

He had a long career in finance, which included positions with the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C.; King Ranch in Venezuela; Gulf and Western; numerous banks; Sandy’s Furniture Store in Vero Beach; and most recently in real estate.

He attended the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Miss., and later completed his college education at Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton.

He was a longtime supporter and member of the National Rifle Association; Florida Cattlemen’s Association and National Cattlemen’s Beef Association.

He was an advanced open water diver and a full cave diver.

Survivors include his wife, Yvette Mooney, of West Palm Beach; son, Rob Mooney, of Vero Beach; daughter, Desiree Lindauer, of Pembroke Pines; mother, LaRue Williams, of Vero Beach; companion, Linda Mann, of Vero Beach; sister, Sandy Herzog, of Vero Beach; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his, brother George Addison Williams, Jr.

A graveside service will be 2 p.m. Feb. 19 at Evergreen Cemetery, Okeechobee, with the Rev. John Kerry officiating.
