VERO BEACH — A man was jailed after police said he stabbed another man following an argument over a seating table arrangement at a popular island eatery during a New Year's celebration. The wounded man was taken by ambulance to HCA Florida Lawnwood Hospital in Fort Pierce with serious, but non-life threatening injuries, officials said. Michael Anthony Gaudiani, 66, of Seagrape Lane, Vero Beach, was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. Vero Beach breaks daily rainfall record from weekend storms
Vero Beach broke the daily rainfall record after drenching showers slammed Florida and other parts of the east coast over the weekend, meteorologists said. Wet weather was not in the forecast this week, but could return with a 40 percent chance of showers next Monday - Christmas Day, meteorologists say. "It will continue to stay dry through much of tomorrow," said Derrick Weitlich, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Melbourne. "Rain chances will pick up as we get closer to the weekend." Weather experts reported 2.13 inches of rainfall in Vero Beach on Saturday.
