Elmer Lee Blankenship, 81, died Jan. 29, 2013, at the Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Middletown, Ohio, and lived in Vero Beach for 14 years, coming from Hamilton, Ohio.
He worked for A. K. Steel in Middletown, Ohio before his retirement.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Marine Corps.
He was a member of St. John of the Cross Catholic Church, Vero Beach, and St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church in Hamilton, Ohio.
Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Geraldine E. Blankenship, of Vero Beach; sons, Donald Blankenship, of Liberty Township, Ohio, Joseph Blankenship, of Cincinnati, Stephen Blankenship, of Organia, Ohio, and John Blankenship, of Hamilton; daughters, Mary Fischer, of Liberty Township, Ohio, Barbara Anspach, of Trenton, Ohio, and Joan Blankenship, of Cincinnati; sisters, Ruth Whisman, of Middletown and Ethel Eckle, of Carthage, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Eunice Peck; and brothers, Paul, Mitchell and Dorsie Blankenship.
Mass will be celebrated at St. Julie Billiart Catholic Church with military honors and interment at Butler County Memorial Park in Hamilton.
There will be a Memorial Mass at St. John of the Cross Catholic Church at a later date.
Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Home and Crematory in Vero Beach.
