Richard M. Whitney Sr., 77, died Jan. 29, 2013, at the Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.
He was born in Clearwater, Kan., and lived in Vero Beach for 23 years.
Survivors include his children, Janet Duffield, of Woodbine, Ga, Terri Carpenter, of Swannanoa, N.C., Richard M. Whitney Jr., of Yulee and Rodney E. Whitney, of Vero Beach; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Winifred “Winnie” Louise Huffman Whitney.
A celebration of life service will be at 10 a.m. Feb. 1 at Our Savior Lutheran Church, Vero Beach.
Navy military honors will follow.
