J.C. Griffin, 84, died Jan. 19, 2013, at VNA/Hospice House in Vero Beach.
He was born in Chipley and lived Vero Beach for 37 years, coming from Fort Pierce.
He was a veteran of the Navy serving during World War II.
He was a member of the Medulla Baptist Church, Lakeland; and a member of the Tin Can Sailors Organization.
He worked as general manager for 17 years with Gracewood Fruit Co.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Bernice Griffin, of Vero Beach; sons, John Michael Griffin, of Fort Pierce and Jason Andrew Griffin, of Vero Beach; daughter, Jane Ford, of Vero Beach; brothers, Buford Griffin, of Port St. Joe and Gene Griffin, of Freeport; sisters, Catherine Worthington, of Chipley, Elvie Hardin, of Jacksonville, Paulette Rogers, of Port St. Joe and Shirley Street, of Panama City; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded by his sisters, Lena Ellisor and Orene Rossborough.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VNA/Hospice House of Indian River County, 1110 35th Lane, Vero Beach, FL 32960.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 p.m. Jan. 26 at the Tabernacle Baptist Church, Vero Beach, with a funeral service at 2 p.m. with Pastor David Foster officiating.
Burial will follow in Crestlawn Cemetery in Vero Beach.
