Allen Arthur Edwards, 74, Vero Beach

Allen Arthur Edwards, 74, died Jan. 15, 2013, at the Clare Bridge Memory Care Unit, Vero Beach.

He was born in Bayonne, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for 52 years, coming from Lakeland.

He graduated in business from Florida Southern College with a bachelor’s degree and attended the University of South Florida for accounting.

He was one of the founding partners of Edwards, Curtis & Ward, Certified Public Accountants, Vero Beach.

He was a subchairman of the Blood Bank of Indian River County

He served as treasurer and board member for five years of the Environmental Learning Center during the building of the facility.

He was on the city of Vero Beach Planning and Zoning Commission for six years and served on the Seagrass Commission.

He was a charter member of the Treasure Coast Kiwanis Club.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Joan (Smith) Edwards; and brothers, Bruce Edwards, of Vero Beach and Robin Edwards, of Lakeland.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Cervenka.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Environmental Learning Center at 255 Live Oak Drive, Vero Beach, FL 32963.

A service will be at 2 p.m. Jan. 26 at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Vero Beach with the Rev. Jack Diehl III officiating.

A reception will follow the service.
