Space Coast Symphony presents singing and famous movie clips

VERO BEACH — What’s better than watching a movie of a great Broadway hit? Listening to the music played live while a cast of singers performs your favorites.

Fans of the famous musical films can still get their fill as another Space Coast Symphony Orchestra multi-media event kicks off on Sunday, Jan. 27, at 7 p.m. at the Vero Beach Performing Arts Center at Vero Beach High School, 1707 16th St.

The innovative program will alternate between a live soundtrack for on-screen musical movie clips to providing accompaniment for a cast of 35 live singers.

Local standouts Stephen Mumbert, Sherry MacLean, Eliza Dopira, Beth Green, Amy Shied, and Shawn Jesseman will join the SCSO to perform numbers from classic Broadway shows including West Side Story, Grease, Chicago, The Producers, My Fair Lady, and many more.

Once again, organizers are tight lipped about a “special surprise” in store for the audience.

$20 advance tickets are available through the orchestra website at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or at several convenient ticket outlets including Marine Bank & Trust (beachside and mainland branches) and Madison Avenue Consignments.

Tickets at the door are $25. Students 18 years of age and under are admitted free.

Discounted tickets are provided through the SCSO Symphony for Everyone program. See details at www.SpaceCoastSymphony.org or call toll free to (855) 252-7276 for more information.

For Artistic Director Aaron T. Collins, “Broadway: From Stage to Screen” is a perfect balance of music and visual spectacle.

“There’s just something special about Broadway tunes that audiences love. We’ve got great singers, beautiful movie clips, and even a special surprise. It’s better than a box of Cracker Jack,” Collins explained.
