VERO BEACH — On Jan. 31, The Source’s Camp Haven will welcome Broadway star Laurie Gayle Stephenson to Vero Beach for a special event with a Phantom of the Opera theme.
For two years, Laurie Gayle Stephenson held the female lead of Christine in Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Her resume includes both musical and dramatic performances, and she has performed on a variety of the world’s most famous stages.
The event will feature a 45 minute concert with selections of Broadway songs performed by Laurie Gayle Stephenson.
Catered hors d’oeuvres will be provided, and a cash bar will be available. There will be displays of Camp Haven throughout the room.
In 2011, The Source, a Vero Beach based ministry to the homeless and indigent in Indian River County, started the project to build Camp Haven.
The Camp Haven program offers a safe, legal place to sleep while providing case management, support, and life skills education for Indian River County residents who intend to rise out of homelessness.
The goal of the project is to assist qualifying individuals to emerge from homelessness and regain a productive role in society.
The event is designed to raise the funds necessary to support the work of Camp Haven.
A short program will present the work of Camp Haven, and event participants will have the opportunity to financially support the agency.
The Camp Haven Phantom of the Opera Party will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church on the Barrier Island.
Attendance is by invitation only.
