Hettie Mata, 65, died Jan. 15, 2013, at her home.
She was born in Blackey, Ky., and lived in Vero Beach for one year, coming from Kentucky.
She worked as an executive assistant for the University of Louisville for three years.
She was of the Catholic faith.
Survivors include her daughter, Danica O’Neal, of Vero Beach; brother, William J. Whitaker, of Louisville, Ky., and one granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her son, Steven O’Neal; parents, Collis and Arla Whitaker; and brother, David R. Whitaker.
A memorial service is planned for a later date in Kentucky.
