Local art gallery hosts benefit for sea turtles

SEBASTIAN — Join us for a special evening of fine art, music, food, and beverage for our love of the sea turtle.

Pasta Pantaleo Signature Gallery will be donating 20% of all sales on this evening to Sea Turtle Conservancy.

WHEN: Saturday, Jan. 19 from 6:30-9:30 p.m.

WHO: Roberto “Pasta” Pantaleo, Sea Turtle Conservancy & Reef Safe Suncare

WHERE: Pasta Pantaleo Signature Gallery, 930 Village Square Dr., Sebastian, FL 32958

WHY: Sea turtles are among the oldest creatures on earth and have remained essentially unchanged for 110 million years. Now threatened and endangered, sea turtles are among the most important indicators of the health of the world’s marine and coastal ecosystems.

Florida hosts approximately 90 percent of all sea turtle nesting in the United States. In Brevard County alone, more than 30,000 sea turtle nests were laid in 2011. With as few as one out of 1,000 hatchlings surviving to adulthood, raising public awareness about sea turtle conservation efforts is the first step in improving their survival outlook for future generations.

RSVP: A Night for the Sea Turtle is free to attend. Please RSVP at www.ConserveTurtles.org/Pasta or call Rocio Johnson at (352) 373-6441.

About Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC): Sea Turtle Conservancy is an international nonprofit and the world’s oldest marine turtle research and conservation organization. Founded in 1959 to support the pioneering work of world-renowned naturalist and author Dr. Archie Carr, Sea Turtle Conservancy is dedicated to ensuring the survival of sea turtles through research, education, advocacy, and the protection of natural habitats upon which they depend.
