Scott Parrot, 90, Vero Beach

Scott Parrot, 90, died Jan. 4, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

He was born in Montclair, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for 25 years, coming from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine.

He retired from Wall Street Journal’s Boston office, where he was the eastern and international advertising manager.

He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II, serving in the South Pacific with the 4th Division 25th Regiment.

He received an honorable medical discharge. He was a member of the Kittanset Golf Club, Marion, Mass.; John’s Island Golf Club, Quiet Birdmen and The Moorings Club, all in Vero Beach; past president of the Manchester Bath and Tennis Club, Magnolia, Mass.; and past member of the Boston Advertising Club.

He established the Youth Hockey Association of America. He was an alumnus of the Wyman School, Winchester, Mass.; Belmont Hill School, Class of 1941, Belmont, Mass.; and Dartmouth College, Class of 1945.

Survivors include his wife, Winifred Hubbard Parrot of Vero Beach; son, Kent Parrot; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first and second wives, Nonie O’Hara Parrot and Eleanor Stover Parrot; and daughter, Heidi Parrot Dierks.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Belmont Hill School, 350 Prospect St., Belmont, MA 02478, or Dartmouth College.

There will be no services in Vero Beach.

Private interment will be Jan. 13 in Winchester with a memorial service to follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Hamilton Chapel at Belmont Hill School in Belmont.

Arrangements are by Lane Funeral Home, Winchester.
