David Walter Locke, 90, Vero Beach

David Walter Locke, 90, died Jan. 5, 2013, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

He was born in Philadelphia, and lived in Vero Beach for nine years, coming from Winston-Salem, N.C.

He was a graduate of the University of Delaware, where he received his mechanical engineering degree.

He served in the Army during World War II as a captain in Central Europe.

He was a lifetime member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.

Before retirement, he was a mechanical engineer.

Survivors include his son, James W. Locke, of Tomahawk, Wis.; daughter, Linda J. Locke, of Loxahatchee; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eloise D. Smith.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion, 4630 36th Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32967.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Jan. 10 at The Lakes at Pointe West with Rev. Robert Bedingfield officiating.

Military honors will follow.
