VERO BEACH — Single tickets for the Emerson Center’s 2013 Celebrated Speakers Series are now on sale for $65. Additionally, series subscriptions for $220 are still available for purchase until Jan. 12.
The tickets are for the engaging and informative speakers in the four-program series sponsored by Wilmington Trust at The Emerson Center at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Vero Beach.
The performances are held on Saturdays at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. Interested parties are encouraged to call as soon as possible to avoid being disappointed.
Launching the series is Jeb Bush on Jan. 12. Son of former President George H.W. Bush, he served as Florida’s secretary of commerce under Bob Martinez, Florida’s 40th governor. Bush was elected the 43rd governor of Florida in November 1998 and ended his second term in January 2007.
During his tenure, Bush cut taxes every year, and Florida led the nation in job growth. With Bush’s focus on reforming education, Florida students achieved the greatest gains in the country.
Additionally, Bush put Florida at the forefront of consumer healthcare advances by signing Medicaid reform legislation. He is currently the head of his own consulting business, Jeb Bush and Associates, whose clients range from small technology start-ups to Fortune 500 companies.
He is also the chairman of the Foundation for Excellence in Education, a national foundation focused on education reform. Bush co-wrote Profiles in Character, which profiles 14 Florida civic heroes making a difference without claiming a single news headline.
Alice M. Rivlin follows on Feb. 2. A frequent contributor to newspapers, television, and radio, Rivlin is a member of the board of directors of the New York Stock Exchange and the director of the Economic Studies Program at the Brookings Institution. She is considered one of the leading economists in the United States.
Next up is Mary Matalin on Feb. 23. Matalin is one of the most celebrated and popular conservative voices in America. She is a best-selling author, television and radio host, and widely sought-after political contributor, pundit, and public speaker noted for her straightforward manner and insightful political repartee.
Concluding the series on March 16 is James A. Baker, III. Baker served in senior government positions from 1975 to 1992 under three U.S. presidents and led campaigns for Presidents Ford, Reagan, and Bush in five consecutive presidential elections.
