VERO BEACH — The Indian River Photo Club’s annual 2012 Juried Print Exhibition will be on view in the Patricia M. Patten Community Gallery in the Hazel Education Wing of the Vero Beach Museum of Art from Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, through Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013. The exhibition of these talented area photographers is free and open to the public.
Fifty photographic prints are on display. They are the work of members of the Indian River Photo Club as well as non-members, both professional and amateur. Pictures are grouped in seven categories: People, Nature-Flora, Nature-Fauna, Scapes, Still Life, Special Techniques, and Open.
A jury consisting of Louis Ciszek, retired professional photographer and photography instructor; Wallace Weeks, a professional travel photographer whose images are represented and distributed by 26 stock agencies that are headquartered in 14 countries; and Linda O’Malley, owner of Darby Fine Arts gallery in Vero Beach, who has degrees in Graphic Design and Fine Arts from the University of Cincinnati. These individuals were selected to judge the nearly 100 entries. Ribbons were awarded as follows:
People Category:
1st place – Dave Garrett, Homeless; 2nd place – Linda Badgley, My Berber; and 3rd place – Linda Leonard, The Challenger.
Nature-Flora Category:
1st place – JR Williams, First Stop; 2nd place – Mike Ricciardi, Christmas Underwater; 3rd place – Shelley Stang, Dancing Ladies; and Merit Award – Stephanie Black, Green with Envy.
Nature-Fauna Category:
1st place – George Bollis, Enlightened; 2nd place – Mary Lou Christy, Lemur Motherhood; 3rd place – Kim Hunt, Wild Eyes; and Merit Awards – Anne Malsbary, Nature’s Giant; and Terri Wells, Stripes.
Scapes Category:
1st place – Liesl Walsh, Beginning of a Beautiful Night; 2nd place – Barbara duPont, In the Still of the Night; 3rd place – Susan Wright, Dawn on Lake #1; and Merit Award – Bob Strupat, Nevada Fall and Vernal Fall in the High.
Still Life Category:
1st place – George Bollis, Sewing Wild Oats; 2nd place – Terri Wells, Peersen’s Plates; 3rd place – Donna Green, Regeneration.
Special Techniques Category:
1st place – Jeffrey Berger, Dryad; 2nd place – Betsy Wura McKean, Butcher Paper and Corners; 3rd place – Nancy True, Stairway to…; and Merit Award – Dave Garrett, Chaos.
Open Category:
1st place – Maria Heffernan, Alahambra; 2nd place – Jim Cohoe, Nautical Stains; 3rd place – Patty Corapi, Doubly Blessed.
