VERO BEACH — The winners of the Darby Fine Art Small Works Competition were announced by George and Linda O’Malley, Darby Gallery owners, during the Vero Beach First Friday Gallery Stroll.
About 350 people viewed the show during the evening. Forty-seven small work entries were juried by three prominent judges (Louie Ciszek, noted photographer, Kathleen Staiger, author, art educator & painter, and Robert Coon, noted educator, sculptor & painter) to arrive at the category winners. By category, the winners were:
Best in Show $500 – Jack Shelton of Ft. Pierce for his wood sculpture “Lightning Struck”
Painting $250 – Peter Montalbano of Sebastian for his acrylic painting “December Night”
Mixed Media $250 – Guy Frazer of Cummings, GA, for his cut paper collage “Sunrise”
Sculpture $250 – Jeaninne Honstein of Vero Beach for her bronze sculpture “Evolution from Corn to Hamburger”
Photography $250 – Peter Laughton of Boston, MA & Vero Beach for his non-enhanced photography “Boston Snow Flakes”
The Darby Gallery wishes to thank all entrants for their part in making this small works competition a success. The show will be exhibited at the Darby Gallery, which is located at 1902 14th Ave. in Vero Beach, until Dec. 21.
Gallery hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday thru Friday and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
