Edward Slazinik Jr., 86, Vero Beach

Edward Slazinik Jr., 86, died Dec. 11, 2012, at the Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

He was born in St. Louis and lived in Vero Beach since 1990, coming from Venezuela.

Before retirement, he worked as an extrusion die repairman and teacher for Couples Products and later for the Reynolds Metals international division for 15 years.

He served in the Navy as a Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class. During his time in the Pacific Theater he served aboard the LST 122.

He was a member of the American Legion and the LST Organization.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Monika; daughters, Linda, of Boston, Susan, of Jacksonville and Betsy, of Tampa; sons, Edward, of Champagne, Ill., Ronald, of Clearwater, Steven, of Boston and Tim, of Tennessee; stepson, Manuel, of Boston; 16 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma; and son, Daniel Slazinik.

Are planned for a later date in Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors.
