William Scott Young, 97, died Dec. 11, 2012, at his home.
He was born in Philadelphia and lived in Florida for the past 25 years, coming from Brigantine, N.J.
He worked for the Postal Service and Brinks Armored Trucks in Brigantine.
He also owned and operated Young’s Dock in Brigantine for 18 years before retiring to Florida.
He served in the Coast Guard during World War II as a fireman second class.
He was a member and volunteer for the Manoa Fire Co. and a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 318, Port St. Lucie.
He was an elder of the Community Presbyterian Church, Brigantine and a member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Port St. Lucie.
Survivors include his daughter, Judy Beckert, of Sebastian; son, James Young, of Palm Bay; and companion, Marian Danforth, of Port St. Lucie.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Della M. Young; and daughter, Jane E. McClaskey
Memorial contributions may be made to Brigantine Community Presbyterian Church, Brigantine, or St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Port St. Lucie.
A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Dec. 16 at St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Port St. Lucie.
