Elizabeth Josephine Weiss, 92, Vero Beach

Elizabeth Josephine Weiss, 92, died Nov. 13, 2012, at the Medical Center, Indian River Estates, Vero Beach.

She was born in Argonne, Wis., and lived in Vero Beach.

She became the director of Student Health at Dominican College of Racine, Wis.

She worked as a registered nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Milwaukee.

She also worked with the Red Cross Blood Donor Program in the Wisconsin Prison System during the World War II.

She graduated from the Marquette University School of Nursing in Milwaukee where she received her nursing degree in 1940.

She was a member of the Visiting Nurses Association and the Women’s Club.

She was active in the Racine Art Guild and worked on the Guild’s Annual Art Fair, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

She was a member of the Racine Country Club, St. Patrick, St. Rita and Sacred Heart churches.

She was a member of St. Helen Church and Holy Cross Church when it was formed where she joined the choir.

Survivors include her sons, James M. Weiss of Concord, Mass., and Thomas B. Weiss of Racine; twin daughters, Lindy Sue Weiss Block of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Laurel Ann Weiss McDaniel of Scottsdale, Ariz.; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold C. Weiss; infant son, Harold John Weiss; and brothers, Keith, Roy, Andrew, John, Lamar, and Fabian.

A private visitation at Strunk Funeral Home & Crematory in Vero Beach.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Dec. 14 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Vero Beach.

Interment will be at a later date at Arlington Park Cemetery in Greenfield, Wis.
