Vivian Sujette Washington, 84, died Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at her home.
She was born on November 29, 1927 in Orange, NJ and moved to Fellsmere in 1963 from Newark, N.J.
She was a registered nurse at Holmes Regional Medical Center and Sebastian River Medical Center, and was a member of the Florida Nursing Association.
Washington also served on the board of directors of the Fellsmere volunteer ambulance squad and the board of directors of Fellsmere Medical Center.
A lifelong advocate for children, she helped many in her community to learn to read.
Survivors include nephews Harold Vickers and his wife Krystal, of Edison, NJ, and Vaughn Vickers and his wife Mary, of Atlanta, Ga.; and her cousins Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Washington and Al Washington.
There will be no visitation or services.
