Barbara L. “Bobbie” Greenlees, 94, Vero Beach

Barbara L. “Bobbie” Greenlees, 94, died Dec. 4, 2012, at the VNA/Hospice House in Vero Beach.

She was born in East Orange, N.J., and lived in Vero Beach for 28 years, coming from West Orange, Maplewood, New Providence and Mendham, N.J.

In 2003, she received the Ted Brown Award, an award given annually by the Taxpayers’ Association of Indian River County (TPAIRC) for lifetime volunteerism.

She served on TPAIRC’s board of directors for many years and was active on the scholarship committee.

She also served as president and administrator of Literacy Services of Indian River County in 1990 and ’91, when the organization succeeded in securing its first full-time office space, at the Indian River County Main Library.

She also was a 25-year volunteer with the Indian River Medical Center Auxiliary. During those years, she clocked more than 3,500 volunteer hours.

She stepped down from service at IRMC when she was 92.

Survivors include her daughters, Bailey Cronin of Savannah, Ga., Linda Cooke of Georgetown, Texas, and Wendy Campbell of Fort Collins, Colo.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Charles R. Greenlees and Noel York Rothmayer.

A celebration of life service will be at the Lakes at Pointe West at a time to be determined on the afternoon of Dec. 8.
