Salvation Army red kettle goal is $130,000

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY  — Two weeks into the 2012 Red Kettle Campaign and The Salvation Army of IRC is working its way closer to the goal of $130,000. As of Monday, Dec. 3, the Salvation Army is at $28,646 or 25% of goal.

Your pocket change will make the difference whether The Salvation Army makes its goal or not this Christmas Season. Your change will help make change in our community for 2013 and help The Salvation Army “Do The Most Good” with your generosity.

This year we will need just as much support. We are asking you to take notice of all the red kettles that are out in front of many retail locations in Indian River County during the month of December, ending Dec. 24, and make a donation to The Salvation Army.

Some of these locations include Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club, Publix, Village Beach Market, Winn Dixie, and The Post Office.

The Red Kettle Campaign is the major fundraiser for The Salvation Army and helps to support all our programs for the entire 2013 year.

The Salvation Army is only as successful as its generous donors and community members allow it to be. Without the help and support of this community and our red kettle sponsors: VBCBA, 97.1 Ocean FM, The Crockett Group, Spring Hill Suites, Velde Ford, Christian FM, Mayflower Society, The Vero Beach Rotary Club, and FPL, we would never be able to maintain our programs and services.

We need our community support this Christmas and look forward to exceeding our Red Kettle Campaign goal.

This year all our bell ringers are volunteers. To celebrate that, we are having a 24 hour Celebrity Ring a Thon at the Sebastian Wal-Mart this Saturday, Dec. 8, from 8 p.m. Friday until 8 p.m. Saturday.

Come out and see WGYL’s Hamp Elliot, WTTB’s Bob Soos, along with City Manager James O’Connor ring the bell, just to name a few. The Salvation Army truck will be there collecting toys for The Fill A Truck Campaign to support the Angel Tree Program.
