“Our Beautiful Waters” featured at Gallery 14

VERO BEACH —  Gallery 14 is happy to mesh science and art with the opening of “Our Beautiful Waters,” an invitational exhibit showcasing artists from Florida and beyond who are inspired by our ocean and rivers.

A benefit for the Ocean Research and Conservation Association (ORCA,) the exhibit will present stunning deep sea Sci-Art photography created together by Dr. Edie Widder and Dr. Steve Bernstein.

Dr. Widder, a world renowned marine biologist and MacArthur Foundation grant recipient, was featured in the December 2011 New York Times Science Times. She has spent her career studying bioluminescent sea creatures and has now found a way to use bioluminescence to fight pollutants.

The show will run until Jan. 5, with a reception on Friday, Dec. 7, from 5-8 p.m., and a ‘last call’ reception on Friday, Jan. 4, both in conjunction with the First Friday Downtown Gallery Strolls.

Also featured will be work by Gallery 14 partners Edgardo Abello, Lila Blakeslee, Cheri Cruden, Barbara du Pont, Mary Ann Hall, Virginia Knapp, Barbara Landry, Deborah Morrell Polackwich, and Dorothy Napp Schindel.

Additionally, there will be new work by represented artists: Bryan Beck, Joan Earnhart, Emily Heinzel, Viola Pace Knudsen, Francis Mesaros, and Carol Staub.
