Guy D. Walton, 88, Vero Beach

Guy D. Walton, 88, died Nov. 29, 2012, at Palm Gardens in Vero Beach.

He was born in Drumright, Okla., and lived in Vero Beach for 13 years, coming from Broken Arrow, Okla.

Before retirement, he was a career Naval officer for 30 years, retiring as a lieutenant commander.

During his service he served on the submarine USS Barb and was in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War.

He was the recipient of the Purple Heart and the Presidential Unit Citation.

Following retirement, he worked in the fire and casualty insurance industry.

He was a member of the Lakewood United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Gladys Walton; sons, Guy Walton Jr. of Lawrence, Kan., and Gregory Walton of Miami; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Vickie Chatburn.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Dec. 6 at Lakewood Park United Methodist Church in Fort Pierce.

Military honors and inurnment will be at South Florida National cemetery in Lake Worth.
