Richard T. “Rick” Johnson, 65, Vero Beach

Richard T. “Rick” Johnson, 65, died Nov. 28, 2012.

He was born in Duluth, Minn., and lived in Vero Beach for 31 years, coming from Minneapolis.

He worked as an instructor at Flight Safety International, Vero Beach, for more than 30 years.

For a period of five years, he worked as a corporate pilot for Page Avjet Corp. of Orlando.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.

He received his bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Superior, Superior, Wis.

Survivors include his wife of 22 years, Kathy Johnson; sons, Marcus Johnson, of Incline Village, Nev., and Lucas Johnson, of Berkley, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded by his parents, Alyce and Warren Johnson; and brother, Stephen.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 5:30 to 6 p.m. Dec. 5 with a memorial service to follow at 6 p.m. at the Thomas S. Lowther Funeral Home, Vero Beach.
