VBHS Performing Arts Department presents “Deck the Halls” Dec. 9

VERO BEACH — The Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Department presents their annual holiday concert “Deck the Halls” on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 p.m., and Monday, Dec. 10, at 7 p.m. in the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Center, 1707 16th St. in Vero Beach.

The concert will include several traditional pieces such as “Sleigh Ride,” plus selections from “The Nutcracker Suite” performed by the VBHS Symphony Orchestra led by Mr. Matt Stott.

Other tunes performed by the VBHS Jazz Band include “Jingle Bells” and “A Very Merry Christmas” directed by Mr. James Sammons and Mr. Page Howell.

The performance will also feature the VBHS Concert and Show Choirs with some beautiful tunes from the cantata “Christmas in the Western World” by William Grant Still and other carols, led by Mr. Gregory Harris and Ms. Karen Wiggins as accompanist.

The combined performance of the chorus and orchestra will conclude the concert with the “Hallelujah Chorus” from Handel’s Messiah.

In the giving spirit of the holidays, the Vero Beach High School Performing Arts Department will present a donation of a portion of the ticket sales from “Deck the Halls” to the Red Cross in order to benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy and those affected by the recent natural disaster in the northeastern United States. Please show your support to this worthy cause.

Deck the Halls brings together a celebration of warmth, joy, and festivity the entire family is sure to enjoy.
