Chamber promotes county at international event

INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — The Indian River County Chamber of Commerce was an invited exhibitor at the 2012 Link-Up international trade event in West Palm Beach.

Link-Up provided an opportunity for businesses in the South Florida region to meet Trade Consulates from 17 countries while learning from state and federal officials the basics of selling to overseas markets. The event was organized by the Orbis Strategy Group in West Palm Beach and sponsored by FPL.

The Chamber’s Economic Development Director Helene Caseltine stated that this was a “tremendous opportunity for us to promote Indian River County to these trade representatives.”

Economic development representatives from throughout the region were invited guests of FPL.

“Ours was the only economic development exhibitor from outside the Palm Beach area. We found the Trade Consulates very interested in what our county offers from a trade and visitor industry perspective,” Caseltine added.

As part of the day’s event, economic development and visitor industry officials provided summaries of their programs to the Consulates.

After discussing the great programs and visitor venues available in Indian River County and mentioning who our key industry partners are, several trade representatives asked about visiting Indian River County.

The Consulates represented all have offices in the Miami area.

Each Consulate was provided a package of Indian River County information including business information, visitor materials, and brochures, and the county economic development promotional thumb drive.

Caseltine will follow-up with each of the Consulates, working with tourism and economic development partners to begin planning familiarization tours of our county.

The Chamber’s Economic Development Office encouraged participation from local businesses to expand their export potential. Representatives from Indian River Medical Center, Florida Pallet, LLC, Coastmark International, and FL Organic Aquaculture also attended the event.
