VERO BEACH — Riverside Children’s Theatre introduces a new week long after school program beginning Nov. 26.
The program is taught by RCT Theatre On The Go actor/educators and pairs educational workshops with the production of a short, original play to be performed for parents at week’s end.
The program is geared toward children ages 7 to 14 and runs Monday through Friday from 4-6 p.m.
Transportation from school can be arranged based on availability.
Fee for the entire week is $50; that equals $5 per hour.
Each week a different theatrical skill is covered with a different play developed and performed by students.
Week one, Nov. 26-30 incorporates movement and stage combat with the show “Jack and the Beanstalk.”
Week two, Dec. 3-7 insruction centers on rhythm, rhyme, and language through the show “The Princess and the Pea.”
Week three, Dec. 10-14 will center on voice and musical expression through the show “Rumpelstiltskin.”
The final week, Dec. 17-21 will involve improvisation through the show “The Town Mouse and the Country Mouse.”
Actor/educators Jacob Cummings, Kaitlyn Schirard, and Chelsea Swearingen will conduct the workshops.
This fall, the group has been touring area schools with three shows in repertory: “The Fisherman and His Wife,” “Puss In Boots,” and “Scrambled Stories.”
