Vero Beach Sports Village hosts Harvest Festival and 5k run

VERO BEACH — Vero Beach Sports Village (VBSV) will once again host St. Helen’s Catholic Church and School’s Harvest Festival from Thursday, Nov. 15, through Sunday, Nov. 18.

Saturday morning, Nov. 17, the second annual “Run through the Harvest Festival” 5K run will take place.

The run will take place at 8 a.m. with packet pick-up and registration at 7 a.m. The entry fee for all runners who pre-register prior to the event will be $25 for adults and $20 for students.

Shirts will be provided to the first 100 to register.

“Vero Beach Sports Village is pleased to welcome back the St. Helen’s Harvest Festival to our grounds adjacent to Holman Stadium,” stated Craig Callan, Vice President of VBSV.

“The festival has become a long-standing tradition in our community,” Callan explained.

Parking and admission for the Harvest Festival is free. Tickets for food, games, and the rides are $1 apiece.

Harvest Festival hours will be Thursday from 5 to 9:30 p.m.; Friday from 5 to 11 p.m.; Saturday from Noon to 11 p.m.; and Sunday from Noon to 6 p.m.

“We are happy the Sports Village is working with us again this year,” said Harvest Festival Chairman Paul Kelley.

“They have really gone out of their way to help us out. Craig Callan and his crew have been very good to St. Helen’s and have made our jobs much easier,” Kelley added.

Festival food includes pizza, philly cheesesteak, turkey drums, corn dogs, fried dough, fried pickles, corn on the cob, hamburgers, cotton candy, dippin’ dots, and new items featuring fried kool-aid and chicken parmesan.

St. Helen’s organizes and operates the event with the help of nearly 500 volunteers.

In addition to hosting the Harvest Festival, Vero Beach Sports Village is host to numerous community events throughout the year including the Jack Owen Foundation Benefit Concert coming up this December, Every Dream has a Price, Doctors vs. Lawyers charitable event, Youth Guidance Heli-drop, as well as hosting the Vero Beach High School vs. Sebastian River High School annual rivalry baseball game.
