“Our annual breakfast is our means of welcoming present members and encouraging prospective members to attend and learn more about Impact 100,” explains President Jane Coyle.

“This year we are very excited to have Margot Franssen as our speaker. In 1980, Margot founded the Body Shop in Canada. She co-chairs “Women Moving Millions,” an organization that inspires gifts of a million dollars or more, so she knows a lot about philanthropy,” Coyle added.

Margot Franssen has passionately and effectively brought women’s issues to the forefront of the Canadian public consciousness. She has used her company and her voice to campaign to Stop Violence Against Women, raising $1.3 million for the prevention and recovery program. The company even footed the bill for 192,000 hours of community work performed in women’s shelters.

In 2004, Margot sold her company and devoted herself to the advancement of women and girls in Canada. She served as the Canadian Women’s Foundation co-chair for six years.

She also served on the board of Women’s College Hospital, Women’s Funding Network, CIBC Bank, and many other boards and is an honorary director of York University.

Margot is on the board of the Canadian Women’s Foundation and co-chairs their endowment campaign as well as the major gifts program.

Indian River Impact 100 is made up of women who are committed to improving the community through transformational grants to local non-profits. Each member contributes $1,000, which is pooled to fund high impact grants in increments of $100,000.

All funds are awarded to charities, with each member having one vote. Members can volunteer on a committee or just attend the annual meeting to cast their votes.

In 2011-12, 416 women joined the initiative which awarded grants to Sebastian River Charter Junior High School, Education Foundation, ORCA, and CASTLE.
