VERO BEACH — The Presbyterian women of First Presbyterian Church will hold their annual Christmas Tree Lane at First Presbyterian Church, 520 Royal Palm Blvd. in Vero Beach on Saturday, Nov. 17, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
This year Christmas Tree Lane, a Vero tradition since 1954, will be held in the church’s new Center for Christian Life for the first time. The event, which features lots of opportunities for Christmas shopping, benefits local charities.
The Unique Boutique, one of the event’s most popular shops, will be held in greatly expanded space this year. It features a wealth of new and gently used personal, household, and gift items. The Handmade Treasures shop offers one-of-a-kind children’s clothing, table linens, note cards, hand-knitted articles, quilts, and other delights made by the women of the Sewing and Crafts group.
You’ll be able to satisfy your sweet tooth at Gourmet Goodies, stocked with fresh pecans and custom treats, and at Cookies by the Pound. Christmas Tree Lane has always included fresh-baked specialties since its first year, according to Patsy Helseth, a founding member of the church who has baked cookies every year.
A festive “ladies only” luncheon, complete with door prizes galore, starts at Noon. It will be catered again this year by Culinary Capers of Vero Beach.
Key of G will provide the holiday entertainment.
Tickets for the luncheon must be purchased in advance. They will be available in the office and after Sunday worship services on Oct. 28, Nov. 4, and Nov. 11. The cost is just $20 per person ($10 of the ticket price may qualify for a charitable deduction.)
Proceeds from Christmas Tree Lane benefit local charities and mission projects. Last year the event raised more than $5,000 which was donated to the Harvest Food and Outreach Center, Our Father’s Table Soup Kitchen, SafeSpace, The Source in Indian River County, and other agencies.
It is sponsored by Presbyterian Women, an independent, self-sufficient organization within the church.
