Elizabeth “Betsy” Anne Pocchia, 78, Vero Beach

Elizabeth “Betsy” Anne Pocchia, 78, died Nov. 4, 2012, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

She was born in Staten Island, N.Y., and lived in Vero Beach for 18 years, coming from Middletown, N.J.

She was a graduate of Rutgers University where she received her master’s degree.

Before retirement, she was a social worker for hospice for seven years in Monmouth County, N.J.

Prior to being a social worker she was a registered nurse in Staten Island for many years.

Survivors include her husband of 30 years, Ralph Pocchia, of Vero Beach; sons, Jeffrey Dahl, of St. Louis, Mo., Chris Dahl, of White Plans, N.Y., David Dahl, of Arlington, Va., and Russell Dahl, of Hazlet, N.J.; daughter, Elaine Dahl, of Jupiter; brother, David O’Brian, of Vero Beach; sister, Patricia McIntyre, of Staten Island; stepson, Ralph Pocchia, of Milford, N.J.; stepdaughters, Michel Fryauff, of Vero Beach and Patricia Cowley, of Washington, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Nov. 10 at Cox-Gifford-Seawinds Funeral Home Chapel, Vero Beach.
