Harbor Retirement Associates celebrates decade of achievement

FLORIDA — Harbor Retirement Associates is celebrating 10 years of success, having grown to 17 senior living communities in four states. This milestone was recently celebrated with the groundbreaking for its 18th assisted living and memory care community, located adjacent to the The Villages in Lady Lake, Florida.

“This 10th anniversary is especially moving for me,” noted HRA President and CEO Tim Smick. “We founded this company based on the tenet that impeccable resident care would translate into a successful business. This core competency will always be our foundation.

Our goal was to turn facilities into communities for the greatest generation. It’s truly a blessing to see that come to fruition and to have the opportunity to watch it grow. The expertise that we’ve honed over the last decade allows us to combine exquisite care with cutting-edge technology for everything from life enrichment activities to every detail of community development,” Smick added.

Throughout the country a “silver tsunami” is forming, as seniors are expected to exceed 20 percent of the overall U.S. population by 2050. Tragically, every 69 seconds someone in America develops Alzheimer’s disease, according to the Alzheimer & Parkinson Association of Indian River County.

In Indian River County alone, there are an estimated 4,500 suffering from Alzheimer’s disease. Harbor Retirement Associates’ HarborChase communities are ideally positioned to address this growing demand for services by providing excellent care to seniors who need a little assistance on a daily basis or those burdened by dementia or Alzheimer’s.

“We are blessed to have a team of associates who embrace our core values and mission to apply our God-given talents and experience to the creation and refinement of successful senior living communities in which we, ourselves, would envision living,” says Sarabeth Hanson, HRA Chief Operating Officer.

With 1,300 employees and 17 communities in Michigan, Alabama, South Carolina, and Florida, Harbor Retirement Associates specializes in the development and management of independent living, assisted living, Alzheimer’s/dementia memory care, and skilled nursing communities under the Regency Park and HarborChase names.

“The last ten years have brought about a wealth of advancements in building communities for senior living, and we’re creating communities where people want to live rather than somewhere they have to go,” explained Chief Development Officer Charlie Jennings. “Our newest community near The Villages will focus on three core ideals: wellness, dining as a sensory experience, and technology.”
