Lighthouse Art and Framing features “Unbound” in November

VERO BEACH — Kristofer Dan-Bergman came to the United States from his native Sweden almost 20 years ago to be a successful businessman.

Then he took a photography class at the International Center for Photography in New York City, and his life took a remarkable turn. He quit his job and began a career that has placed his work in prestigious periodicals like Esquire, W, and Elle, and in museums and galleries around the world.

He has traveled extensively to shoot documentary styled spreads in Kenya, Rajasthan, Mali, and Burma (now Myanmar). He has shot international campaigns for Panasonic, Clarins, and Tag Huer.

Now he is bringing his brilliant, fine art works to Vero Beach with his show titled “UNBOUND.”

Dan-Bergman was raised in Stockholm in a theatrical family. His father ran a theater, and his mother was an actress. Even with these still life subjects you get a sense of his theatrical influences.

This show brings Dan-Bergman’s brilliant sense of light and form to the forefront as he focuses on the bindings and pages of old text books and “sees” their seemingly abstract images bathed in a warm, orange glow as leather bound books. The overall effect gives one a feeling of movement and softness, like looking at a soft sculpture on the page.

The photographs of Kristofer Dan-Bergman will be on display at the Lighthouse Art Gallery beginning Friday, November 2, which coincides with the evening of the Downtown Art District Art Gallery Stroll.

The gallery will be open that evening from 5 p.m. until 8:30 p.m.

Refreshments will be available.

The exhibit closes November 30.
