Glamorous Guild Ladies creating glittering success

VERO BEACH — Co-Chairs Silvia Cancio and Nancy Hendricks have gathered a group of dedicated committee members to create the much anticipated Hibiscus Children’s Center winter gala.

This year the theme will be “All That Glitters,” and the co-chairs and committee are expecting the gala to be a Glittering success.

The gala will be held on Saturday, December 8, in The Moorings Club with cocktail hour beginning at 6:30 pm. Gourmet dinner will be served; guests can then dance into the night with Private Stock Band.

Live and silent auctions will bring ample opportunities to win big while helping an amazing mission.

Dress to impress. Gentlemen, wear your best tuxedo; ladies wear your sparkles and glitter galore, and plan to attend the annual winter gala to benefit Hibiscus Children’s Center.

“Providing shelter, healing, and assistance to youngsters who, through no fault of their own, find themselves in crisis, is a strong motivation to become involved in the winter gala,” co-chair Silvia Cancio stated.

The Indian River Guild is a group of dedicated ladies who are passionate about helping the children to grow into productive and successful adults even though they have come from traumatic and broken beginnings.

“I have attended the winter gala every year since moving to Vero Beach in 2004. I can personally attest this is truly one of the best events of the year. Not only is it a fun filled evening, but it is also for such a great cause,” shared co-chair Nancy Hendricks.

Hibiscus Children’s Center is deeply grateful for the many supporters who make the mission to shelter the children possible.

About Hibiscus Children’s Center

Hibiscus Children’s Center, founded in 1985 by LaVaughn Tilton, is a non-profit organization serving Martin, Indian River, Okeechobee, and St. Lucie counties.

It operates a shelter in Jensen Beach and a village of group homes in Vero Beach.

Hibiscus addresses the problem of abuse and neglect throughout the Treasure Coast with an expanded foster care program, mental health and substance abuse services, a prevention program to support families in crisis, and services to reduce the number of families entering the dependency court system.

Hibiscus Children’s Center Thrift Store in Jensen Beach was opened in 1997. All proceeds from the thrift store are used to offset costs for children’s programs.

Shelter, group homes, and foster programs are funded in part by United for Families and an additional $2.5 million must be raised each year by Hibiscus in the annual campaign, special events, and through foundations and local grants to meet overall children’s needs.

Hibiscus is also a United Way affiliated organization.

Hibiscus speakers are available to present to your group or organization.
