Edward H. Trent, 80, Vero Beach

Edward H. Trent, 80, died Oct. 25, 2012, at Indian River Medical Center in Vero Beach.

He was born in Tampa and was a lifelong resident of Vero Beach.

He was a graduate of Vero Beach High School, Class of 1950, and a graduate of Mercer University.

He was an announcer at WTTB radio, news anchor at WTVX, and retired after 17 years as communications director at Indian River Medical Center.

He was an honorary life member of the Kiwanis Club and Exchange Club of Vero Beach and a member of ATO fraternity at Mercer University.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Kay Wodtke Trent; daughters, Mary Blumstein and Cheryl Hoyt, both of Vero Beach; sons, Edward Trent, of Knoxville, Tenn., and John Trent, of Anthem, Ariz.; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Williams and Tom Trent.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Helen Catholic Church, 2085 Tallahassee Ave., Vero Beach, FL 32960.

The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Oct. 28 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Oct. 29 at St. Helen Catholic Church. A reception will follow at the church.

Interment with military honors will be conducted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3918, Vero Beach, will follow at Crestlawn Cemetery.
