SEBASTIAN — Christ the King Lutheran Church, 1301 Sebastian Blvd. in Sebastian, donated $139 from its recent monthly bucket collection to Pelican Island School’s Backpacks with Food program.
Every Friday, the Food program provides easy-to-prepare food items to 35 students so they will have meals over the weekend. The students are on the free school breakfast and subsidized lunch programs.
Deb Berg, assistant school principal, accepted the donation at a recent church service.
Other recipients of Christ the King Lutheran’s bucket collection this year were: The Source, Ecumenical Food Pantry, ELCA Disaster Relief, ELCA Together in Mission, Daughters of Naomi, and ELCA World Hunger.
