John “Johnny” Selwyn Blair, 83, Vero Beach

John “Johnny” Selwyn Blair, 83, died Oct. 21, 2012, at Indian River Medical Center, Vero Beach.

He was born in Leesburg and moved to Vero Beach from Orlando.

He worked as a master carpenter.

He helped build much of the original Orlando, including the Orlando Utilities building, SunTrust Tower and the First Union Tower.

He also helped build attractions at Walt Disney World, including Big Thunder Mountain.

He was an Army veteran, having served during the Korean conflict.

He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Loyal Order of the Moose and Carpenters Local 1765.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Martha Louise Blair, of Vero Beach; daughter, Debra Blair Carlton, of Holly Springs, N.C.; sister, Evelyn Wood, of Byram, Miss.; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Randolph John Blair, in 1999; and infant daughter, Melanie Kay, in 1964.

Services will be conducted at a later date.
