Donald Robert Moyer, 84, Vero Beach

Donald Robert Moyer, 84, died Oct. 18, 2012.

He was born in Pottsville, Pa., and moved to Vero Beach 26 years ago from Annandale, Va.

He was a Navy veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars.

He earned his master’s degree in marine engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, Mass.

Before retirement, he worked as a Naval architect marine engineer for 23 years.

He was a member of St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church in Vero Beach.

He also was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons of California and the Vero Beach Codgers.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Muriel Moyer; daughter, Susan Shevlin of Irvine, Calif.; sons, Donald Moyer Jr. of Vero Beach and David Moyer of Stafford, Va.; and six grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County, P.O. Box 644, Vero Beach, FL 32961.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 23 at St. Augustine of Canterbury Episcopal Church, Vero Beach.
